XGen day 4: For the past few days I’ve been fighting bugs and small oddities which I had absolutely no idea what had caused them, and no idea how to fix them either. So trial and error a dozen times until I accidentally do the right thing and then try to understand what I actually did to fix it. This is definitely the worst part of leaning a new software completely by yourself.
Masks and maps were insanely confusing at first because I wasn’t at all familiar with Maya’s shader system and there were so many errors due to me not understanding how to paint properly. Also predicting what guides actually do is not as easy as I expected so that has needed a lot of testing.
Next up is modifiers, understanding what the hell they actually do and how much work I can do manually and what to leave for modifiers.
